When three traveling families converge on Perico Hotel for a Doctor Who themed birthday party for a special 13yog (E) the week becomes long but is supercharged with adrenalin and anticipation. Joined by 3 other kids our tribe gets a high from the new blood, new ideas, new toys!
We had met RambleCrunch previously here @ the hotel when we first arrived back in January, and we spent time with them in Morelia so we were fairly well acquainted with them. Our kids had been waiting in great expectation for this themed party, having been Doctor Who fans for years thanks to the introduction via their eldest sister, and guilty of finally pushing E over the edge & into the series. Now there’s no turning back!
Camping in their van on the beach near Sayulita, Leah (of the third family) had contacted both RambleCrunch and I about the same time via FB, unaware that our two families were already friends and would be gathering here at Chapala in just a few days time. With an invite to the Doctor Who happenings they bee-lined to the hills where they fit in nicely. The more the merrier!
It’s been so refreshing to shoot the breeze and pick the brains of other like-minded traveling families. Both the other families have camped through Europe with their kids so that was something I could only dream about, but we all related on so many other subjects it was invigorating and comforting.
People like us! Rare breed.
After a couple of days of preparation the party time arrived. Swimming, The Weakest Link, a fantastic treasure hunt, a good whack at the piñata and scrambling to get the most chocolate bars was followed by a scrumptious lasagne supper shared on the patio, all topped off with a couple episodes of Doctor Who (of course) under tarps stretched over plastic tables on the patio where the youngsters slept for the night.
