A Sunday in Morelia with Friends

Just one of many cathedrals in Morelia. Wonderful colonial architecture.

When we came to the city we stopped in at another traveling family’s apartment (RambleCrunch.com) which is basically right downtown in the historical section.  We hung out with them for a few hours, drinking cafes in the park, climbing bronze statues by Jose Marin, eating specialty chocolates after a street side vendor lunch.  We went back to their place for popcorn and Doctor Who, and to take the dogs for a really nice long walk.

Everette's hand is stuck up the nostril of this bronze statue by Jose Marin. There were 3 of these "Heads Will Roll" (that's not what they were called, but that's what I thought of them) that the kids LOVED climbing.

Shocolate's fancifully displayed ice creams. Tempting, but we pass.

It was a low-key very enjoyable day with like-minded friends….hard to come across while traveling…at least it has been so far for us.  Most families are stuck in the North American rat race.  It’s a real treat to connect with these friends in both Chapala where we first met them, and now when we travel to Morelia (about 4 hour drive away).  If you’re interested, check out their blog at RambleCrunch.
