Up, Up & Away!

Look out, here we come!

As if our van wasn’t already noticeable, with our vinyl people across the back, and when we had the black roof top tents mounted up there along with the surfboards.

Now we’ve switched the tents out for storage boxes, and piled up Mitchell’s 16 ft dory, and a fishing kayak, and the 2 surfboards, with a cargo bag full of extra bedding and our winter jackets. Not looking very minimalist. And looking out of place inland and in the desert.

Hitchhikers along the highway glance upwards as we leave them standing on the sidelines.

No room, sorry.

I’m thinking we look as tall (if not taller) than we are wide now.  I have concerns that we are top heavy, but we slow down and take it easy.  There’s still lots of weight below centre with 9 of us and all our books, and bedding, 4 water containers full, and a huge cooler full of food.

Loading the dory up. Heavy sucker.

Love this photo of Mitchell. Excited the boat is up, looking forward to adventures ahead.

It’s always a challenge to get everything in the van with room enough for all its occupants.  Hard to judge all the stuff strewn around and imagine it fitting in all the nooks and crannies.

When push comes to shove we push a little harder!back of van packed

Inside van while we are traveling. Kids mostly surrounded by blankets, pillows, extra jackets, soft stuff.

Would be interesting to see how much the van weighs now!  Gotta find ourselves a truck scale.
