The Anasazi Archeological Museum (or named something like that)
Scavenger Hunt begins
Overwhelming amount of information. Wall to Wall. Need to visit again and again.
Tim helped Laars find some of the items on the Scavenger Hunt list
Like beautiful pottery (Smith’s have recovered chunks from similar items on their own property, and our kids have added to that collection!)
The kids thoroughly enjoyed grinding purple corn. Would take forever to grind enough to feed our large family!!
Lots of fossilized items
Looking at seeds, fibers, stones under a microscope
Ann first taught Tov how to use the loom, then Tov spent time teaching Maret and others to weave and this became one of their #1 favourite activities to do at this museum.
I did a lot of the babysitting while the rest were scavenging (including Rauchelle) but….
one of my favourite things was this framing of items used to dye the yarns. The resulting dyed yarns stretch from what they were made of into their place in the developing pattern
Inside a pit house
Peoples from the Four Corners who traded with one another
Activities followed the seasons, sort of how we are living our lives
