Bird watchers frequently stop here at Los Frailes arriving on yachts they’ve paid big bucks to travel on, taking pictures of whales and other sea life on their journey from San Diego up the Sea of Cortez. They arrive in our camp in swarms of about 30 people with heavy cameras looped around their necks and crowned with floppy hats.
They didn’t know they would get personal guide in a 7 year old but Anders does a friendly and informative little tour, always guiding them over to Audrey’s (she encourages the birders to come to her place) to see the various hummingbirds, orioles and cardinals that frequent her camp site.
One day Anders had in his tour a well-known nature photographer from the UK who tipped Anders with a signed photograph–Mark Carwardine.
