  1. I read about those in my biology book. They almost went extinct back when people were spraying with DDT. It got into the water and the fish were contaminated and so the pelicans got it too. The DDT made their egg shells really thin, so most of the eggs broke long before the babies were ready to hatch. In one population, there was one year only one egg made it to hatching.

    • Fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Glad they recovered. Still one of our favourite things about the Baja, watching them dive-bombing. They are certainly plentiful. Great come back!
